The above community group are looking for assistance to run their ambitious new venture, a pop-up Sustainability Hub in Thornton Heath which will run once a month on a Saturday afternoon.

Would you, your faith group or faith venue like to receive and display leaflets or to get more involved?

They are looking for volunteers to cover these roles:

  • -A host to be ‘front-of-house’ for repairs (especially for electrical & electronic items, but also for clothing) to help manage and oversee this important aspect of the hub.  This would suit someone that is well organised and good with people.
  • Skilled repairers of electrical & electronic items to help people repair them.
  • Skilled sewing repairers who have their own machine and are willing to bring them to the pop-up hub to help people repair them
  • Leading the group’s promotional effort for the hubs on social media channels.  This will be during hubs as well as in between them.  The role could also include capturing feedback from visitors through video clips for use to help raise awareness, profile and attract more people.  These roles could be split.
  • Someone with experience of operating audio / visual equipment so short video clips can be shown, for example.
  • General help including helping out with the Kids’ Zone, encouraging people to come in to check out the hub, welcoming and collecting feedback from visitors, and serving refreshments
  • First aiders
  • People to help with the promotional effort in the weeks leading up to the first hub, such as helping hand-out leaflets on Thornton Heath High Street and distributing posters to places where they can be displayed.

They are also looking to borrow:

  • Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) machine
  • Flip chart holder/s
  • A megaphone if possible
