Muslim Association held its annual Eid Party on the 24th of July 2016 at Norbury Manor Enterprise Girls School for the Muslim community in Croydon.
The event is hosted every year to celebrate the end of Ramadan (During the month of Ramadan Muslims fast from dawn until sunset - that means eating nothing while it is daylight. The Qur'an, the holy book followed by Muslims, was first revealed during the month of Ramadan).
This year we had over 180 people who attended the event. These included members of the council and the police, representatives from Faiths Together in Croydon and many families from all over Croydon.
At the function we also had local organisation who had come along to promote their work as well as local artist who displayed their art work.
There were a number of speakers who had come along to promote the work they do in Croydon and spoke about their organisations to those present on the day.
It was great to see a number of children from the ages of 5 to 10 years old taking part in reciting poetry and Islamic verses to a large crowd (much braver than I was at their age).The event was also covered in international media.
The Eid party ended with a hot delicious meal which was enjoyed by all.
